United Soccer League Championship note

The Vancouver Whitecaps took the USL crown for the second year in a row in a tight match against Puerto Rico at Vancouver. The final score was 2-1 and all reports suggest it was a good match-- hard fought. Of course, here in Portland we must not be interested in the outcome of the League final since our team, the Timbers, finished dead last. Kudos to The Oregonian for discerning that and not even listing that the match was being played in the sports TV listings. Yet another step in the long long long dismal coverage of soccer in a city where many people would pay extra for good coverage.
