For a look into the Russian point of view

The way that the conflict in Georgia is being framed is quite different in the Russian world. It's easy enough to get a sense of it in the English language version of Pravda. It's readable online at http://pravda.ru.

It's also interesting to look at YouTube online to see what is surfacing regarding the conflict. The postings just minutes ago (8/13 at 3pm pdt) included a civilian vid recording from the port of Poti on the Black Sea coast alleging to show Russian tanks rolling in. While there did not appear to be fighting going on at that place and time, the Russians are a long way from the focus of most attention at Gori on the south Ossetian border. Poti is a major port and source of access to shipping for Georgia. It is near, but not I think in, the other breakaway province in western Georgia. Certainly inconsistent with what is being said in the press. The Russians appear to be holding chokepoints in Georgia.

Also, it may be that the hot war is tied to a cyber war too. This NY Times article suggests that Georgia was attacked electronically before they moved against South Ossetia on 8/7. Hmmm.
