this maybe corny...or not
Biodiesel is being discussed as a solution to our dependence on oil. However. I have the impresson that it may not be the solution we need. True, biodiesel can find an adaptive use for what might elsewise be waste. However, that's different than being a replacement fuel supply at a net beneficial enviromental cost! To produce corn or other crops as a source of fuel isn't a 'net gain transaction'. It takes fossil fuels to produce, harvest, and transport corn or other grains...and the net energy gain may not be a plus. As in so many situations today, sorting out the truth from the hype isn't easy...or maybe possible. Be wary of people bearing easy solutions to big issues.
