This man just epitomizes empathy for average folks

and a real understanding of what's important.

The quote below, I think, hardly needs commentary. It speaks for itself. It is taken from a article in the San Jose Mercury News of Sept. 7th. It could have been from any number of print media since Bush's comments were so often quoted. Astonishing.

" had raised eyebrows on his first trip by, among other things, picking Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss. - instead of the thousands of mostly poor and black storm victims - as an example of loss. "Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house - he's lost his entire house - there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch," Bush said with a laugh from an airplane hangar in Mobile, Ala."

Oh, of all the coverage I have been following, I had missed this quote. What an accurate representation of a leading man's inability to connect with the people he purportedly leads...
