The most spectacular meteorological images I have

ever seen were on display last Sunday as a highly charged 'cell' of weather slowly trundled north up the east side of the Willamette Valley. As I drove east from town toward home in Gresham, the sun dropped low enough so that its light was streaming below the shelf of cloud above and the whole atmosphere was suffused with an electric orange light. Due east two giant rainbows arced up into the sky and periodically hot white slashes of lightning chattered across from one side of the bow to the other. Rain fell. It was absolutely wonderful to see.

summer in Oregon. Yeah.
