Riding the Rails-The Cascades Express

Just back in town late last night after the conference in Tacoma. Took the Amtrak Cascades from here. Travel in the lap of luxury. $40 round trip. Comfortable seats and room to sprawl out. Good coffee and a bagel with cream cheese for my morning repast on the way up. A nice merlot and peanuts on the return. Views of the Sound and forests. Can't be beat. The alternative is three hours in my car- time just being stressed with driving. Or going out to the airport, going through security, waiting for the plane, forty minutes to SeaTac, then getting out of the airport and getting a taxi or shuttle somewhere- the shuttles alone were $40! Not a big time or stress savings there. Ah...yes. It was good.
