Intersection of "new media" minds and old media.
Our local journalistic endeavor, The Oregonian, has undertaken changes in an attempt to woo new, young readers, and to stay economically viable. One manifestation is that the weekly entertainment insert sports a column titled "Plugged In" where the word "twee" can be used so we'll know it's right there in the now. While Google tells me the word was first noted in 1905 it is certifiably a "now" term. The insertion of "pop talk" into the papers leads to occasional dissonance in the harmonics. A recent example was the insertion of www.bestweekever.tv/2009/01/05/7-things-less-twee-than-zooey-deschanel-and-ben-gibbards-engagement into this print article. And, no, much to everyone's surprise you can't click on it! Live links become awkward to text into your tiny phone keyboard. But the inescapable looms. There will be more of this. Personally I find it twee.
